The Sutton Hoo burial mound was excavated in 1939. Treasures from the same time period as the Beowulf story were discovered here. Because of their beauty and significance, many photos of Sutton-Hoo artifacts are available in flickr search results. Although some images retrieved by the search have a tenuous relationship to the archaeological site, the outstanding photos make the "surprises" worthwhile. There is also a great collection of images in the Anglo-Saxon Art Pool on flickr. Enjoy!
